Elton John Opted Not to Sing Diana's Song At Tribute Concert

This is not my typical post but I remember like it was yesterday the funeral for Princess Diana. Today, I was anticipating hearing Elton John sing his special version of "Candle in the Wind" that he sang 10 years ago at her funeral but he didn't !

According to internet buzz at the last minute he opted not to sing the song even though the princes had personally asked Elton John to sing it once more even though he had vowed never to sing it again in public. It was a great show and I guess if the buzz is true that he just couldn't perform the song again ..... I can understand that. (There was a long break before he took the stage to close the show that appeared to be unexpected). I did just go watch Elton John singing his version of her song on YOU TUBE from the Funeral - and I realized even though I was disappointed he didn't sing it again it would have been so hard to ever out do or match even, the tribute he gave to her the day of her funeral.

There was an international lineup of pop stars paying tribute to Princess Diana. Elton John kicked off the show with Your Song in front of giant black and white photographs of Diana taken by Mario Testino that were beamed on to the stage backdrop.

Duran Duran, Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas, Orson, Josh Grobin, Donny Osmond, Tom Jones, Rod Stewart and P DIDDY all kept the crowd on their feet for almost the entire concert.

The concert was definately a celebration of a beautiful lady inside and out ..... and it's obvious, her beauty lives on in her sons! If you missed it they have highlights on the concert on NBC tonight at 7pm eastern and you can visit www.concertfordiana.com to see highlights as well.

All proceeds from the event went to charity! =)

I was really surprised he didn't sing it! I had watched an interview with Harry, her son, where he mentioned that they had asked Elton John to sing it for them again.
