World War One Sketchbooks of an Unknown Soldier

A British soldier, based in France and Belgium between 1917 and 1918, produced 130 watercolour and pen and ink sketchbook drawings. Among the images are several caricatures that poke fun at Britain's elite and military leaders. In addition, there are a variety of somber images suggesting the horror and carnage experienced by those at the front.
